Feature status: Image generation, qualified video generation, Ask Midways and the manual editor are launching with V1. Advanced assisted editing and reference tools remain in development or future concepts. Check each product page for scope.

The Midways editor is a real multi-track timeline — the same kind of control you'd expect from a professional editor, with AI creation built in. This guide takes you from an empty project to an exported video.

Open a project and import media

Start a new project in the editor and bring in your clips or images. Everything you add lives on the timeline, where you control order and timing.

Arrange your timeline

Trim clips, drag them into order, and layer video, text and audio tracks. Manual editing like this doesn't spend AI credits — arrange as much as you like.

Add text and captions

Add titles and captions as their own layer. Position and time them precisely against the video underneath.

Balance your audio

Mix your audio tracks so dialogue, music and effects sit at comfortable levels across the whole piece.

Export

When it's ready, export a finished MP4 — including longer projects.

Tips

  • Save often; the editor keeps your project as you work.
  • Keep manual edits (trim, arrange, text, audio) separate in your head from AI

creation — only the latter uses credits.

What's not covered here

Agentic help that proposes edits for you (Ask Midways, Smart Actions) and the guided workflows are still being rolled out. This guide covers the editor you can use today.
