Status: Soon. Ask Midways project questions are in the V1 scope, with customer release pending. Ask can answer supported questions with project evidence. It does not make autonomous timeline edits.
Ask a narrow question
- Save the current project version. Open Ask Midways in the editor. The input is labeled Ask a question or describe one exact edit; use it for a question such as Where do we discuss pricing? or Which caption mentions the launch date?
- Read the cost note before Send. Direct local edits and Q&A have different availability and pricing states; do not assume project Q&A is free because a local command is free.
- Read the answer, then review Sources used. A cited item may show Go to moment to seek to the evidence. Watch or read that moment to verify the answer in context.
- If the answer abstains or says evidence is insufficient, narrow the question, add reviewed captions or media, save a new version and try again after indexing. Do not treat a missing citation as proof that the event never occurred.
Keep answers tied to the right version
Ask distinguishes the saved cloud version from local changes. If you changed the timeline after saving, save again before trusting version-scoped answers. When a project is unsaved, stale, restored or moved elsewhere, retrieval can be unavailable or need a fresh save.
Know the boundary
An answer does not change the timeline. Project Findings, vision analysis, Clean Interview, B-roll suggestions and automatic edit proposals remain Soon and have separate requirements.
Why did Ask refuse to answer?
It may lack current project evidence, a saved version, the required capability or an available Q&A quote. Use the message shown in Ask, then check Troubleshooting.
Does asking a question edit my video?
No. A project Q&A answer is read-only. Any supported edit command follows its own preview or confirmation path.
