Create a project, import media and save versions

Learn the Midways project workflow, supported imports, local draft state, cloud save, reopen and version history.

What this relates to: Professional editor: Launching with V1

Status: Soon. The manual editor is awaiting customer release. These steps describe how to organize a project when your account has access.

Start a draft and bring in files

  1. Open /studio/editor when access is enabled. Use Start a new draft on the timeline toolbar for a clean sequence. If you have unsaved work, save or export it first.
  2. In the media panel, choose Add (accessible name Import media), or use the Workspace drop zone. Pick PNG, JPEG or WebP images or MP4 or WebM video. Other file types may be refused by the visual import path.
  3. Add media from the library to the timeline. Place a second clip on the same layer for a sequence or above it to overlay. Scrub the playhead and use the canvas to verify the chosen source.
  4. For narration or music, use Audio and mixing; the Soundtrack panel accepts uploaded audio separately.

Save a cloud version

Choose Save cloud project after signing in. A new project first needs a name in the cloud projects panel; later saves create immutable versions. Open cloud projects lists saved projects, and Version history lets you inspect or restore a version. A restored version is local until you save it as a new head version. Media upload and save can take time, so wait for confirmation before closing the tab.

The editor also has local draft recovery, but browser storage is not a substitute for a cloud version or exported file. If autosave reports a failure, export before closing and retry the cloud save.

Keep the project inspectable

Use clear file names before import, keep the source files available until cloud upload finishes, and save after large structural edits. Ask and project evidence can be stale when local changes are ahead of the saved version.

Can I import audio with Add?

Use Soundtrack → Audio sources → Voice-over or Background music for an audio file. The visual media import chooser lists image and video formats.

Why is Save cloud project disabled?

The control requires sign-in and cloud project access; it is also disabled while saving or in read-only review mode. Check Troubleshooting.
