Add, time and review captions

Create editable caption cues, import or download subtitles, and review translated second lines before export.

What this relates to: Professional editor: Launching with V1

Status: Soon. Manual caption controls are implemented; automatic transcription and translation depend on configured services. Public editor access is pending.

Write captions by hand

  1. Open Captions and choose Add caption. Edit the new cue's text, start and end times. Repeat for each spoken phrase; play across cue boundaries to check sync.
  2. Set a shared Caption style, then use an individual Style override only when that cue needs different emphasis. Keep contrast strong and avoid covering important visual detail.
  3. For existing captions, open Import subtitle file. The editor can download SRT subtitles or VTT subtitles from the caption lane. Review imported line breaks and timing against the media.

Generate and translate only when enabled

Generate captions attempts timed captions from sequence audio and requires valid media plus its transcription service. If unavailable, use manual cues or import subtitles. Translation language and Translate captions into second language add a second line when the configured provider works. Read and correct each translation; use Approve all translations only after review. Export is blocked while a second-language line remains unreviewed.

Check accessibility in context

Preview captions against bright and dark frames, allow enough reading time, and confirm the words match the actual recording. Downloading a subtitle file provides an editable sidecar; the rendered video may also carry the on-screen captions according to export settings.

Can I edit a generated caption?

Yes. Generated cues are editable. Correct names, punctuation and timing before export.

Why is export blocked after translation?

Every translated second line needs review. Correct or approve each cue before rendering, or remove the unreviewed translation.
