Status: Soon. Layer and group controls are implemented in the timeline; public editor access is pending.
Build the layer stack
- Place a second visual on a row above the first to make an overlay. The higher row appears over the lower one in the canvas at overlapping times.
- Open a layer's More actions for Add layer above, Add layer below, Move layer up, Move layer down, Rename layer or Remove layer. An empty placeholder row can accept a new layer but has nothing to rename or lock yet.
- Use Lock layer before aligning surrounding clips; locked layers refuse edits to their members. Use the eye control (accessible name Hide Layer N or Show Layer N) when you need to inspect the layers beneath. Hidden visuals are excluded from preview and export; re-enable visibility before export and check the preview.
Select and group related items
Choose Select multiple clips, or Shift-click clips and groups. Choose Group selected clips to keep a title and its visual together during a move; Ungroup selected clips releases them. Clear clip selection resets the working set. Copy selected clips and Paste timeline clips preserve relative timing and paste at the playhead. The per-clip menu also has Copy clip and Duplicate after clip.
When the timeline has focus, Ctrl/Cmd+A selects all, Ctrl/Cmd+G groups, Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+G ungroups, Ctrl/Cmd+C copies, Ctrl/Cmd+V pastes and Delete or Backspace removes the selection. The toolbar buttons expose the same operations for pointer use.
Keep audio lanes distinct
Voice and music have their own lanes and controls. A layer row may expose Add voice to this layer or Add music to this layer; see Audio and mixing before adjusting levels.
Why is a layer command disabled?
Rename, lock, hide and reorder require a real layer record. Add a clip first when the row is still an empty placeholder. A locked layer also blocks clip moves, trims and deletes.
Does hiding a layer remove it?
No. Hide is a visibility state; the layer and its clips remain in the project.
